Role of Women in Modern Business – Effective Relationships and Efficient Leadership

A report from GEM on women’s entrepreneurship indicates that the global entrepreneurship rate is growing faster among women than men. Approximately 250 million women worldwide run their own businesses. Women play a crucial role in economic life and the broader business world, taking on new challenges and roles, effectively developing professional experience, education, and acquiring new skills useful in the business environment both in Poland and internationally.

Women’s qualities such as diligence, responsibility, multitasking, education, and flexibility naturally translate into effective leadership. Other distinguishing traits include communication skills, patience, and empathy, which are often more pronounced than in men. Women are also more inclined to diplomacy and conflict resolution, which are key elements in the modern economy. Along with creativity, these competencies gain additional significance, especially during the intensified digitalization of enterprises.

Communication through Values

The modern economy requires actions based on specialized knowledge, involvement in the product creation process at every stage, and organizational management skills. Women effectively build efficient relationships, lead companies focusing on communication through values, talent identification, and change management.

Women have a natural ability to divide attention among ongoing tasks and operate on multiple levels simultaneously, ensuring positive results and satisfactory outcomes. In modern business, focusing on quotas is not necessary; competencies and individual capabilities within the spirit of social justice in corporate culture are of greater importance.

Individual Choice

The path of personal development should be a matter of sovereign choice. Competition based on quality, personal know-how, or soft skills benefits all parties, both female and male. Without diversity, there is no innovation. Therefore, if we do not work hard enough to change attitudes towards women as employees, the chances of creating a better future for future generations will diminish. Gender should not be the deciding factor in promotion or managerial hiring decisions. Business lacks no training or development programs that support ongoing changes by equalizing opportunities for women and men. The changes, however, occur mainly among women themselves. They are increasingly better educated, equipped with the right skills and aspirations, and through hard work, they fulfill their professional ambitions.

Every year, women’s influence on the economy grows. Businesses founded by women significantly drive global economic development. Although the trend is positive, it does not change the fact that female entrepreneurs still face many challenges, making the pursuit of passion, professional flexibility, and financial independence require strength and determination. However, overcoming these challenges brings at least double satisfaction. Women are much less likely to say “it can’t be done,” and for that, I especially value them.
