Real challenges our clients faced and how we solved them. Below are ten examples from our dietary-supplement contract-manufacturing practice — from an idea with no formula to technologically difficult formulations.
For confidentiality reasons we do not disclose client names or detailed product data.
R&DFormula from scratch
1. From idea to finished product
Problem. The client came to us with an idea for a supplement but no ready formula. They had a clear product vision and knew their target audience — but lacked the composition and technology to turn the idea into a real product.
Solution. Within a few weeks we developed the composition from scratch, selected the right raw-material forms and prepared samples for evaluation. Together with the client we refined the final version of the product. The result? The supplement went on sale exactly on schedule.
R&DSensory testing
2. A flavor that sells
Problem. The first version of the supplement worked great but had one problem: customers simply didn't want to drink it. An effective formula isn't enough if the taste discourages regular use.
Solution. Our R&D team prepared several flavor variants and selected aromas and masking agents. The final formula kept the full active composition while scoring highly in sensory tests. A product that used to be hard to swallow became pleasant for everyday use.
Form optimization
3. A capsule that was too big
Problem. The client wanted to fit a dozen or so ingredients into a single capsule. The trouble was that, with such a composition, the capsule came out too large to swallow comfortably.
Solution. We analyzed the entire formula, changed the forms of some raw materials and optimized their proportions. This let us fit the full composition into an acceptable capsule size, without lowering the declared doses.
Cost optimization
4. Every penny counts
Problem. The project looked promising but exceeded the assumed budget. Without changes to the production cost, the product would simply be too expensive to sell well on the market.
Solution. Our technologists proposed alternative raw materials with comparable properties and optimized the production process itself. We managed to lower the product's cost while keeping its quality at the same level.
ExportEU compliance
5. A product for a demanding market
Problem. The brand planned to sell the supplement in several European countries. Each market, however, has its own regulations, and non-compliance of the composition could block the whole project.
Solution. Already at the formula-design stage we checked the compliance of the ingredients used with applicable regulations and prepared the documentation needed to launch the product. The brand could enter new markets with no surprises or delays.
StabilityTechnology
6. A difficult formulation
Problem. Combining several ingredients caused product-stability problems. A formula that looked good on paper lost quality in practice before the end of its shelf life.
Solution. We ran a series of technology trials, selected the right raw-material forms and solutions that protect the active ingredients. As a result, the product retained its declared quality throughout its shelf life.
Process scale-up
7. From lab to production
Problem. The formula worked perfectly in the lab but wouldn't run on the production line. This is a common point where a good idea can get stuck.
Solution. Our team scaled up the process, adjusted the technological parameters and prepared a formula ready for industrial production. What worked at small scale started working at full production too.
PremiumPatented ingredients
8. Premium without compromise
Problem. The client wanted to create a top-shelf product based on branded, recognizable ingredients. Such a project requires not only a good formula but also a coherent story for the consumer.
Solution. We helped select patented raw materials, designed the formula and prepared the technical documentation. The result was a product that stands out both in composition and in marketing communication.
Softgel suspensionR&D
9. Two worlds, one capsule
Problem. How do you combine oils and powdered ingredients in a single softgel capsule? Not every composition can be enclosed in a classic capsule, and the client wanted both in one product.
Solution. Our R&D team developed a softgel-suspension formula that made it possible to combine oil and powder ingredients in a single capsule. We enclosed two different worlds in one convenient product.
StabilityLinseed oil
10. Six months? Just the beginning
Problem. The client needed a longer shelf life for a product based on linseed oil. Oils of this kind oxidize easily, so maintaining quality over time was a real challenge.
Solution. We analyzed the formula, the choice of raw materials, the oxidation-protection system and the method of production and packaging. By optimizing the whole process we achieved significantly higher product stability and an extended shelf life, confirmed by testing.
